The Word Of God Working In A Believer

The word of God renews the believer’s mind by reeducating it
Romans 12:2
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

The word of God transforms the believer’s behavior by the renewed mind
Romans 12:1-2
Romans 6:11-13
Colossians 1:9-11

The word of God energizes the believer by sound doctrine
Sound doctrine is energy for the believer.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 “worketh” – The word of God energizes a believer.

The word of God strengthens the inner man through the Spirit
The doctrine that is in a person’s soul fortifies and sustains the inner man by the Spirit of God.
Colossians 1:11
Ephesians 3:16
The Holy spirit strengthens you in the inner man.
How does the Holy Spirit strengthen our inner man?
By the Word of God
The Holy Spirit takes the word of God (the doctrine in your soul) and He energizes it.
Colossians 3:16”Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;”

1 Thessalonians 4:15 – 17 The Coming Of The Lord
The Lord is coming for all believers that are saved and in the Body of Christ.
These verses will give comfort to all believers that will read them.

4:16 Resurrection
4:17 Rapture (“caught up together”)
4:17 Reunion
4:18 Renewing our minds
How? 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

2 Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

All believers should want to renew their minds daily in the word of God. We should read, learn how to study, learn how to rightly divide the word of truth, and walk by faith in the position that we have in Christ.

As believers we should be:

Waiting – “And to wait for his Son from heaven,” – 1 Thessalonians 1:10
Looking for that blessed hope – Titus 2:13
Listening for the “shout” from the Lord Jesus Christ – 1 Thessalonians 4:16
Pressing toward the mark – Philippians 3:14

                                                                          Law Or Grace
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
The “law principle” works through a performance system
If you do the works then you get the blessing
If you don’t do the works then you get the curse
The Grace Principle says:
Here are all of the blessings
Now serve me out of a heart of gratitude and thanksgiving.
These two principles of law and grace are opposite
The law principle is what we call the “if then” principle
If you do this, then God will do that.
The law says if you perform this, you will get a blessing.
The law says “if you don’t do that then you get a curse.”
The Grace Principle says “here, and hands you the blessing.”
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus              Christ our Lord.
“but the gift of God” – That’s under grace.
“is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Eternal life is a gift.
“God gives us up front what a person under the law is working to get”.
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Grace is all that God is free to do for you through the cross.
Grace gives you a blessing freely.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

                                                                       “This World”
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The phrase “this world” is a reference to the present evil world system which is:

Under the authority of “the god of this world” – 2 Corinthians 4:4

Under the influence of the philosophy of Satan – Colossians 2:8

Carried along by a value system that appeals to “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” – 1 John 2:16; Ephesians 2:2-3

                                                       The Work Of God
1 Thessalonians 4:7 God has called us
How were we called? 2 Thessalonians 2:14”Whereunto he called you by our gospel,”
What is the gospel? 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
“Called” – is one title of a believer that describes our status
Romans 1:6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
1 Thessalonians 4:8 God has given unto us his holy Spirit
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
1 Thessalonians 4:9 God teaches us
How does God teach us? Through His Word
1 Corinthians 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Conclusion: I pray that this will be a rich blessing and help to you.

                                              What did Paul preach?
A gospel that we can believe – 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
1 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,”
3  “how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
         Romans 1:16
A Bible that we can trust – 2 Timothy 3:15-16
A way to study the Bible that we can understand – 2 Timothy 2:15
A life that we can live – Galatians 2:20
A purpose that we can fulfill – 2 Corinthians 5:20
We are ambassadors for Christ in this world of sin
We represent the Lord Jesus Christ, and we bring His message to the world

                                                                  Three Mysteries
Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
How can I find out what these three mysteries are?
1 Corinthians 2:13 “comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
So, we are going to search the scriptures to find the answer.
2:2”the mystery of God,”
Revelation 10:7 “the mystery of God should be finished,”
You will find that the mystery of God (Revelation 10) as the summation
                     of the prophetic program.
10:7 “the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to
                     sound,”
Revelations 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there
were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this
world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his
Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
2:2”and of the Father,”
Ephesians 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will,
according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Ephesians 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he
might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in
heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
The mystery of God the Father’s will has to do with the fact
that He is going to gather together all things in one.
He is going to head up all things under one head, and that
head is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 1:10 “which are in heaven” – Body of Christ
Ephesians 1:10 “and which are on earth;” – Israel
2:2”and of Christ;”
Ephesians 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the
mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
Ephesians 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my
knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
The “mystery of Christ” is the body of Christ – Ephesians 3:5-6

The moment that you believe the gospel, God the Holy Spirit does these five things with a believer. There is no time delay after salvation.

  1. You were circumcised – Colossians 2:11-12
  2. You were regenerated – Titus 3:5 (Your dead spirit is given life)
  3. You were indwelt – the indwelling of the Holy Spirit – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
  4. You were baptized by the Spirit – 1 Corinthians 12:13
  5. You were sealed with the Holy Spirit – Ephesians 1:13, 4:30
